Packaged ready for use in a convenient and transportable gym bag that weighs less than 10 lbs, the Polar Life Pod® is easy to keep on the sidelines and transport to the individual, unlike large, cumbersome tubs that require picking them up and transporting them to a stationary tub.

From the athletic field to military training grounds, its lightweight, go-anywhere design makes it the ideal cold water immersion solution for those who can't afford to slow down.

Rapid Set-up and Immersion of Individual

30-40 gallons of on-site ice water is recommended to cool individuals. However, a recent study by Dr. Kevin Miller of Texas State University found 'ideal' cooling rates could be met with as little as 20 gallons of ice water. Faster cooling does occur with more water and more water is necessary for larger individuals and preferable when possible.

Effective Immersion of the Body, Neck and Back of the Head

Fitting individuals up to seven feet tall and 400 pounds, the Polar Life Pod® can be adjusted for smaller individuals by simply folding the foot under. The included floating head support pillow hyperextends the neck, keeping the individual's airways safely elevated and out of the water while cooling the neck and back of the head.

Note: the individual's airways must still be monitored for safety.

  • Width at lowest point (bottom of pod where feet lay) = 30” 
  • Material: Heavy-Duty PVC
  • Integrated Dual Drawstring Hood: Allows for full body, neck and partial head coverage of the individual being submersed while minimizing water leakage
  • Arm Ports with Sleeves: Allows the individual being submersed to extend arms outside of the PLP
  • Adjustable Straps: Minimizes water usage by forming the PLP to the individual's body shape while allowing for even and effective water distribution
  • Access Port and Attached Thermometer Bag: Access port for a rectal thermometer midway down the PLP
  • Full Length Anterior Two-Way Zipper: Facilitates ground level access for individual into and out of the PLP. Allows the PLP to be rapidly filled with water from on-site containers. The water can be evacuated quickly at the foot of the PLP at a safe distance from the individual's head
  • Floating Head Support: Fits snugly inside the hood and allows the individual to keep their head above water. This hyperextends the neck keeping their airways clear and above water, while the neck and back of the head are covered in the cold water
  • Waterproof Digital Thermometer: For monitoring the water temperature inside the PLP
  • One set of Ear Plugs: To keep water from going into the ears

Once I place my order, how quickly is it processed and when does it ship?

Orders placed before 12 noon EST, Monday through Friday, typically ship the same day. Orders placed after noon, will ship the next business day. If an order requires more than two days before shipping, we will notify you via phone or email regarding the delay.

RETURNS

Products may be returned within 30 days of receipt, provided they are in unused, original condition and include all components and packaging. Approved returns are subject to a 10% fee (to cover disassembly, inspection, and restocking). Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there different sizes?

No, the Polar Life Pod is designed to be adjusted for any size individual, up to approximately 7 feet tall or 400 lbs.

Does it fit smaller people or children?

Yes, the bottom of the Polar Life Pod can be folded under before being filled with water and the straps help it adjust to fit almost any body size.

How much water is required?

30 to 40 gallons is recommended depending on the individual's size. However, A recent study by Dr. Kevin Miller of Texas State University resulted in 'ideal' cooling rates with as little as 20 gallons of water. Larger individuals will require more ice water for cooling and cooling will be faster with the 30-50 gallon recommendation.

How should I carry the water?

We recommend bringing the ice water in standard 10-gallon Gatorade type containers, or other coolers.

What temperature should the water be?

The water should be under 59°F.
