When you're geared up and working in extreme heat, staying cool isn't a luxury, it's a performance and safety issue. Firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and emergency responders face some of the most demanding thermal conditions of any profession, often in heavy protective gear with little relief between calls. Polar Products has been helping people work and feel better in the heat since 1984, and we carry cooling solutions designed to fit the demands of your job.

Built for the Job

Polar Products carries a full range of cooling vests designed to keep you comfortable during demanding, heat-intensive work. Whether you're on scene, in rehab between calls, or running drills, our vests use insulated internal pockets that work with your choice of cooling packs:

Kool Max® Frozen Water-Based Packs require a freezer and deliver the highest level of cooling energy, up to 3 to 4 hours of relief. Great when freezer access is available at the station.

Cool58® Phase Change Packs charge at just 58°F and can be activated in 15 to 20 minutes in a container of ice water, no freezer needed. Ideal for extended shifts or situations where freezer access isn't guaranteed. They provide a comfortable, constant 58°F for 2 to 3 hours.

For environments where flame resistance is required, we also offer cooling vests in both Banox and Nomex fabrics, rated Class 1 NFPA 70E. See the Banox vs. Nomex breakdown below to find the right fit for your situation.

Beyond the Vest

Cooling vests are a great starting point, but we also carry neck wraps, wrist wraps, and cooling hats that can complement your setup or provide standalone relief during rehab time between calls. Our Emergency First Responder Rehab Cooling Unit is available for departments looking for a station-based recovery solution.

For field situations requiring rapid response, the Polar Life Pod® is a patented cold water immersion system designed for rapid whole-body cooling. Lightweight and portable, it's a practical tool for responders who may need to treat a victim in the field before transport is available.
