Circulating Water Cooling Systems
Some environments don't leave room for compromise. Whether you're in a surgical suite, on a hazmat crew, working a sweltering industrial floor, or managing a heat-sensitive medical condition, you need cooling that works continuously — not for an hour, not until the packs warm up, but for as long as you need it.
Cool Flow® circulating water cooling is that solution.
How It Works
The Cool Flow® System circulates ice-chilled water from an insulated cooler reservoir through a network of tubing sewn directly into the interior of a lightweight cooling vest. As long as there's ice in the cooler, you stay reliably cool.
The technology traces its roots to NASA's work in the 1960s, when engineers needed to keep astronauts cool during spacewalks in the extreme thermal environment of space. Polar Products adapted that same liquid-cooling approach for real-world use, and Cool Flow® Systems have been trusted by militaries, hospitals, industrial operations, and research institutions around the world ever since.
This isn't passive cooling. It isn't evaporative cooling that depends on airflow or humidity. Circulating water cooling actively pulls heat away from your body — continuously.
Continuous cooling, not time-limited cooling.
Unlike phase-change or ice pack vests that rely on a fixed cooling capacity and warm up over time, the Cool Flow® System keeps circulating chilled water as long as ice remains in the cooler. Resupply is as simple as adding more ice.
Works in any environment.
Heat, humidity, heavy protective gear — none of it defeats a circulating water system. Cool Flow® Vests have been worn under lead aprons, air filtration suits, firefighting gear, military protective clothing, and surgical gowns. The cooling is internal and isolated from ambient conditions.
Tubing sewn inside the vest.
All Cool Flow® Vests are built with the cooling tubing sewn directly into the garment interior, so the cooling surface stays in contact with your body — not exposed to warm outside air.
Scalable to your operation.
Running a team? Cool Flow® is available in multi-person configurations, allowing a single cooler unit to circulate chilled water to multiple vests simultaneously. Custom systems are available for specialized applications.
Who Relies on Cool Flow®
Circulating water cooling is the right tool when sustained, high-performance cooling is non-negotiable:
- Surgeons and OR staff wearing lead aprons or standing under surgical lights for hours
- Industrial and construction workers in hot, enclosed, or high-PPE environments where evaporative cooling can't keep pace
- Military and government personnel operating in extreme climates or heavy protective gear
- People managing heat-sensitive medical conditions — including multiple sclerosis, hypohidrosis, and spinal cord injuries — who need continuous cooling that pack systems can't match
- Emergency first responders and hazmat teams working in full protective gear where ambient cooling is impossible
- Multi-person operations where a team needs simultaneous, sustained cooling in heat-stress conditions
