Shin Splints
Shin Splints refer to pain along the front or inner edge of the shinbone, often caused by overuse or a sudden increase in activity. When muscles, tendons, and surrounding bone tissue become strained from repetitive impact, such as running, jumping, or high-intensity training, inflammation and tenderness can develop. The discomfort is typically felt during or after exercise and may worsen without proper rest.
Most cases of shin splints respond well to conservative care. Cold therapy is commonly used to help reduce inflammation and ease soreness after activity. As acute tenderness improves, gentle moist heat may help relax tight lower leg muscles and improve circulation before stretching or light movement. Alternating rest with supportive heat and cold therapy can provide a simple, non-invasive way to manage symptoms while the body recovers.
