Night Sweats

A woman in blue pajamas lies in bed with her head on a pillow and hands over her face, in a dimly lit bedroom with a bedside fan on the table.

Night sweats are episodes of excessive sweating during sleep that are severe enough to drench clothing or bedding, regardless of the temperature of the sleeping environment. Unlike ordinary sweating from a warm room or too many blankets, night sweats originate from internal physiological processes and can occur even in a cool environment. They are not a condition in themselves but rather a symptom of an underlying cause, which can range from hormonal changes such as menopause and andropause, to infections, medications, autoimmune conditions, certain cancers, and neurological disorders.

For people experiencing night sweats, the consequences extend well beyond discomfort. Disrupted sleep compounds fatigue, worsens mood, and in many underlying conditions, poor sleep directly aggravates the primary disease. The cycle of waking, changing clothing or bedding, and attempting to return to sleep is one that significantly erodes quality of life over time. Cooling products address this at the source by reducing the thermal burden on the body before and during sleep. Keeping core body temperature lower reduces the likelihood and intensity of sweating episodes, and wearable cooling during the lead-up to sleep can help the body reach and maintain the lower core temperature it needs for restorative rest.

"Love the pillowcase. Great for hot heads like me! Got much better, longer sleep last night. Didn't have to flip the pillow every 10 minutes before sleep and it stayed cool a very long time into the night. Don't hesitate to buy it if the relationship between you and your pillow have been heating up lately!!" - Patrick C. in Seattle, Washington

"I bought the Soft Ice® Cooling Pillowcase. I am 48 and have a heat tolerance issue. I sweat very bad at night and would wake up 2 or 3 times in the night so hot I could not sleep. I bought the Soft Ice Pillowcase and it made me cool all night. I don't wake up like I used to. If you have night sweats buy this it will change the way you sleep." - Kevin W. in Barboursville, West Virginia
